  SJL Academic Consulting works with high school and college educators to build foundational reading and writing practices.  Our modules are designed to equip your faculty with a curriculum that is ready to be used in the classroom. We offer teachers the tools to help students in the following areas:

ACADEMIC WRITING: 

This 4 hour module introduces scaffolding and modeling PowerPoints for two modes of writing: Persuasiveand Informative. 

This package is designed to equip the English faculty, and any faculty who require their students to write papers, with skills and a curriculum that is immediately ready to be entered into the school's platform and used in the classroom to improve student learning and understanding of writing and reading. These writing assignments are also formed using the ACT Writing format to help prepare students for the writing portion of the ACT.

The SJL presenter will practice side-by-side modeling and coaching for faculty who will then create writing assignments that follow our format. 

The Academic Writing package includes:

• 1 scaffolding and modeling and guidance PowerPoint for Persuasive writingwith side-by-side modeling and coaching while faculty create writing assignments following the SJL Academic Consulting format

• 1 scaffolding and modeling and guidance PowerPoint for Process writing with side-by-side modeling and coaching while faculty create writing assignments following the SJL Academic Consulting format

• 5 Individual Rise 360 Articulate interactive lessons on the following:

Writing terminology and foundations of writing

Assessment on writing terminology

 Introductions

Body paragraphs

 Conclusions

LITERARY ANALYSIS:

This four-hour session includes writing scaffolding, modeling and guidance with PowerPoint for two types of analysis: character analysis and setting and symbolism analysis.

This package is designed to equip the English faculty, and any faculty who require their students to write papers using analysis of a written text, with skills and a curriculum that is immediately ready to be entered into the school's platform and used in the classroom to improve student learning and understanding of writing and reading. 

The SJL presenter will practice side-by-side modeling and coaching for faculty who will then create writing assignments that follow our format. 

The Literary Analysis package includes:

• 1 writing scaffolding and modeling and guidance PowerPoint for character analysis with side-by-side modeling and coaching while faculty create writing assignments following the SJL Academic Consulting format

• 1 argument scaffolding and modeling and guidance PowerPoint for setting and symbol analysis with side-by-side modeling and coaching while faculty create writing assignments into the SJL Consulting format

• 6 Individual Rise 360 Articulate interactive lessons on the following:

Writing terminology on writing about literature and foundations of writing

Literary terms for the character analysis

Literary terms for the setting and symbol analysis

Literary analysis introductions

 Literary analysis body paragraphs

Literary analysis conclusions

EACH PACKAGE ALSO INCLUDES:

• 1 30-minute video consultation to discuss client needs

• 1 30-minute video consultation to finalize dates, technology, and communication with participants

• Preview: Content will be shared with the Client at least 48 hours before implementation for review

• Content: Digital Copies of all materials available for future use

• 1 30-minute session closeout video consultation to discuss feedback and next steps
